Chance Action and Therapy: The Playful Way of Changing
Nova
Science Publishing, New York: 2010
Chance Action and Therapy
tells the stories of women, men and couples who applied chance and luck (by
means of dice and self-prepared playing cards) to solve persistent
difficulties in living. The problems dealt with include, among others, diet,
smoking, couple relations and sexuality, shyness and inhibition, sex
addictions, posture, panic and anxiety states, obsessions and
compulsions. Letting chance and chance-inspired action work for us turns the
process of change into a playful beneficial experience with sometimes
surprising results.
Chance Action and Therapy
is a synthesis
of the author’s clinical experience, Luke Rhinehart's The Dice Man
and Nassim Taleb's Fooled by Randomness. The writings of
Ecclesiastes, Epictetus and Nietzsche, all great teachers of life have
inspired much of this work. This is the first practical application of chaos
theory to therapy and self-help.
Praise for Chance Action and Therapy
In this book, Dr.
Uri Wernik shows a remarkable openness to attacking a variety of problems in
living including diet, smoking and addictions with tools that most
psychologists have never considered, and he has written about his ideas and
practice in a clear and forceful manner. Chance has always been a crucial
element in human development and Dr. Wernik has appropriately applied it in
a creative way in his work.

I love your book. You are a
wonderful writer: the combination of professional information and your
personality is really good. I highly recommend it.
